Magic Regionalism

Roger Deakin coined the term "the faraway world of the nearby" to express his wonder and appreciation of the exquisite worlds right under our collective noses. This was his response to looking into a crack in a rock and seeing a minutiae world of mosses and lichens- thriving; a content harmony.

Magic Regionalism is a term I have coined to express a very specific sense of recent historical Australia -eg our shearing sheds, colonial structures, our unique flora and fauna, recent botanical migrants, combined with the very real sense of spiritual power, magical realism, I sense emanating from the very bones of  our landscape.

This particular theme may keep me occupied for some time...
