A site dedicated to inspiration: both the product of it and those who inspired it in me.
The golden thread that runs through my work is the pursuit of Beauty, through depicting our human form in the landscape. My first love is portraiture and capturing the soul’s essence.
My inspirations are those realists of the Renaissance and the nineteenth century Pre-Raphaelite painters, who broke the boundaries of what could be achieved with tubes of oil colour. I am classically trained in drawing and painting in the Atelier tradition. An additional university degree in the conservation of easel paintings means all my work is constructed with the highest standards of conservation in mind- my paintings will indeed stand the test of time.
Training
I have received a wide range of arts education: from traditional atelier training (The Studio Art School, Julian Ashton Art School), to contemporary training (BA of Vis Art, UNE). I am a qualified conservator of easel paintings (BA of Applied Science, UAC). I have extensive teaching experience, both as a teacher of classical art (Studio Art School) and, after completing a Masters of Education (U Syd), as classroom teacher in the NSW public school system (for whom I have worked the past 20 years). I now devoting my time solely to my painting career.
